Default Backup feature?

Maybe create a feature that allows you to back up your FlashFXP in one little or "big little" file that could be fit on floppy instead of backing up the whole folder?

all you really need is flashfxp.exe and sites.dat and flashfxp.ini
there are no registry entires that you must copy for FlashFXP to function correctly.

i don't think it's so hard to do manualy that you would need it implemented into flashfxp...

Default Files ..

I would say its a few more than that Mxx..

These are the files needed for complete backup :

cmd.dat
favorite.dat
History.dat
Sites.dat
skiplist.dat
Stats.dat
Bookmarks.dat

(Basically all .dat's)

and also the Flashfxp.exe & flashfxp.ini

if you want help, flashfxp.hlp.

The easiest way is to zip or rar or ace these files & you should have the complete backup.

Shark.

P.S. obviously all the .dat's arn't REQUIRED, but if you want full backup (with all settings saved), its better to have them

Default see...

see, that is what i'm trying to say.

there are some people out there that would not know to backup those files. All that would be need to be done is to make one file to put on a floppy and then you can install it to FlashFXP and bam you are done!

I know it is not that hard. but for the dumb people it is!

see, becuase of dumb people we still have MacOS, Windows Explorer, WinZIP and other.
dumb people that are not dumb anymore don't use Macs, Windows Explorer or WinZIP. they use Windows Commander and other SMART programs(including FlashFXP)

dumb people need to learn. we can't feed 'em, chew for them and swallow for them.

I know this is like preaching to the devil, but really smart people don't use MS OS or MacOS at all, they have have moved on to bigger&better things, like a unix-flavor, but I digress.

What I really wanted to ask Slinger, was why he really needs this feature. If I was of a suspicious nature, I'd suspect this was part of a scheme to share FFXP between two or more computers, but it can't be that, because that would be a breach of the user-license.

If it was part of a security-backup, he really should look into means to backup all his critical data, not just FFXP. One quick&easy solution is to use Norton Ghost or similar imaging software, which would make it possible to restore a pc in mere minutes, rather than re-installing the OS, then each program one by one.

Default well...

well...
1. I do not want it for that feature
2. I'm sure the backup would be programmed not to include that info. Most likely!
